The Human Being in the Quran: Purpose, Soul, and Responsibility

The Quran begins the human story with creation, honor, teaching, testing, responsibility, repentance, and guidance.
Adam (peace be upon him) was not a random beginning. His story is the foundation of human identity. Allah created him, honored him, taught him, commanded the angels concerning him, placed him in a test, warned him of an enemy, accepted his repentance, and sent guidance for his descendants.
This teaches that the human being is not a neglected creature. He has a noble origin, a meaningful purpose, and a serious responsibility. Allah created the human being in the best form, gave him hearing, sight, and heart, subjected parts of the universe to his benefit, sent messengers to guide him, and revealed books so that he would not wander blindly.
But this honor is not empty pride. It is a trust. The human being is honored so that he may worship Allah, establish what Allah loves, build the earth with guidance, resist corruption, and return to his Lord with submission.
A person who remembers only human honor may become arrogant. A person who remembers only human weakness may despair. The Quran gives both truths together: the human being is honored, and the human being is accountable.
The story of Adam (peace be upon him) also teaches that the human being has an enemy. Satan does not stop at the first generation. He works upon the children of Adam through deception, beautification, arrogance, desire, forgetfulness, and false promises. The human being, therefore, needs revelation not only to know the truth but also to remain protected from misguidance.
The Quran also teaches that sin is not the end if repentance follows. Adam (peace be upon him) was taught words of return, and Allah accepted his repentance. This becomes part of the human path:
Mistake → Awareness → Repentance → Return to Allah
So the human being is understood through three truths together:
He is created by Allah.
He is honored by Allah.
He is responsible before Allah.

The Quran teaches that the human being is honored by Allah, but this honor is fulfilled through worship, responsibility, repentance, guidance, and preparation for return.
