Hadith: As-Saf 61:11

61:11
تومنون بالله ورسوله وتجاهدون في سبيل الله باموالكم وانفسكم ذالكم خير لكم ان كنتم تعلمون ١١
تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُجَـٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ١١
تُؤۡمِنُونَ
بِٱللَّهِ
وَرَسُولِهِۦ
وَتُجَٰهِدُونَ
فِي
سَبِيلِ
ٱللَّهِ
بِأَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡ
وَأَنفُسِكُمۡۚ
ذَٰلِكُمۡ
خَيۡرٞ
لَّكُمۡ
إِن
كُنتُمۡ
تَعۡلَمُونَ

˹It is to˺ have faith in Allah and His Messenger, and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if only you knew.

Sahih al-Bukhari 2786

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:

Somebody asked, "O Allah's Messenger! Who is the best among the people?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied "A believer who strives his utmost in Allah's Cause with his life and property." They asked, "Who is next?" He replied, "A believer who stays in one of the mountain paths worshipping Allah and leaving the people secure from his mischief."

Sahih al-Bukhari 6494

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:

A bedouin came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger! Who is the best of mankind!" The Prophet said, "A man who strives for Allah's Cause with his life and property, and also a man who lives (all alone) in a mountain path among the mountain paths to worship his Lord and save the people from his evil."

Sahih Muslim 1910

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: One who died but did not fight in the way of Allah nor did he express any desire (or determination) for Jihad died the death of a hypocrite. 'Abdullah b. Mubarak said: We think the hadith pertained to the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).

Sahih Muslim 1888a

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id Khudri that a man came to the Prophet (may peace he upon him) and said: Who is the best of men? He replied: A man who fights in the way of Allah spending his wealth and staking his life. The man then asked: Who is next to him (in excellence)? He said: Next to him is a believer who lives in a mountain gorge worshipping hid Lord and sparing men from his mischief.
